Hey Jerry,

I get the kayak scoop....$10 plus tip. Depending on the bait condition, this pretty much lasts me til mid afternoon.

Hi All,

The buzz this morning was an abandoned, half submerged new truck with the engine still running with an empty boat trailer on the ramp. A good Samaritan moved and parked the truck/trailer. Just an over excited fisherman I guess.

Big squirrely sardines with a couple big macs this time from the receiver. The game plan was to shot out to the outside (267 FB) for the tuna then inside for the do dos and yellows. Big mixed swells from the NW & W with 2 foot chop made a rough ride out…water temp 73.5 & clear skies. Strong winds are forecasted for the afternoon, so I knew I had to find em quick. VHF chatter was mostly quiet. No life or paddies for the first 14 miles out, but my sonar was marking some intermittent fish….an optimistic sign.

At the 18 mile mark, I was able to finally find a nice lone paddy with a “peek a boo” yellowtail underneath. There wasn’t any action for the first couple passes. I switched to a deep diving big mac as diving birds start to arrive then….BENDO! FRESH ONE! This tuna came up fairly quick at first but held at deep color. As it circled to my gaff, I noticed its fins….Blue fins are back!

I really wanted my limit, but the winds & white caps came early…a wet ride back for sure. Bluefin limits are 2 as of July 30…bummer. I bagged one 17 lber on 30 lb P-line, trini 20 and my Calstar scs. They're smaller…but the beautiful blue fins are back! Btw, the truck & trailer was still parked when I left…hope he caught a lot of fish cuz he almost lost a truck & trailer.

Thanks for coming along and see you on the water ;) Ben
