Yellowfins Still Way South, 11-22-2015

Hey All,

Reports of wide open yellowfin bites off Mission Bay a couple days ago sparked my interest. I was hoping they made way north since warmer waters seemed to be moving toward our area. As usually, I launched from Dana and made way to the outside south of the domes. Conditions were perfect! Sunshine, water temp 68 + and calm, plenty of life...birds, bait, dolphins & whales everywhere! I chased a pod of frisky dolphins as far south as Camp Pendleton/Oceanside for what seemed like an eternity. But no luck on the dolphin slide.

Yellowtails have been reported in the inside near the domes so that's where I spend the afternoon. I metered small yellows and they certainly were. Caught couple rats and some small rock fish...all thrown back. Similar reports were made by boaters back at the landing. On the positive side, it was a beautiful day on the ocean...but would have been a glorious day with a few big tails on the ski ;)
